Active Research fields

The research interests have been focused on the Theory and the Teaching of Architectural Design, and on the topics of "Landscape Urbanism", of the architecture for churches in the renewed catholic liturgy and, lately, on the restoration of the architecture of the "Modern" and on the “adaptive reuse”. 

Research projects of the last 5 years

Partecipation with national groups of research on the topics: 

  • The identity of inhabiting: new forms and requirements of the residential settlement in the contemporary Italian city (PRIN 2004).Retraining and upgrading of public housing assets. Guidelines for action in innovative IACP neighborhoods in central and southern Italy (PRIN 2007).
  • From the countryside to the city in urbanized extension: the rules of composition of the architecture in the territory of the small towns (PRIN 2009). 
  • The architecture of the churches in Sicily after Vatican II. Influences and influences of the religious architecture in the Mediterranean area (FFR 2012);
  • Feasibility study for the reuse/recycling of building/architectural complex of the Augusta ENEL power station (Syracuse) (2013-16)
